I am a qualified Sattva Meditation teacher, teaching from Avalon Beach, Australia, and online.

Fifteen years of a personal daily practice with varying forms of meditation has brought me to what I feel is the Rolls-Royce of the practice, Sattva Meditation. It’s led me directly into choosing to engage with those of us in need of the practice today. Meditation can work to guide us toward the greatest gift one can give, to oneself and to others: a sense of who we are at the deepest level.

Today’s relentless cultural and social narrative directs us toward “Doing” — keeping our noses to the grindstone, focusing us on some mighty goal we might one day complete. This drags us away from the present, away from the simple state of Being. In fact this Doing becomes so consuming that just the sight of someone meditating sends an internal message of resistance, beginning with two words: “I can’t.”

This is where personalised instruction comes into its own.

"The current day-to-day rigours of life create extremely high amounts of stress, tension and fatigue, at a rate that has not been seen before in history. The pace and the style of life we have set is unsustainable for most. Once our systems reach their threshold and begin to overload, the mind, body and the entire nervous system begins to precipitate and experiences great disharmony. Anxiety, depression, lack of energy, acute fatigue and just the feeling of not being fulfilled, content or joyful dominate.”

“In order to compensate, we often find ourselves seeking a way to “cope”, by engaging in various activities such as excessive drinking, eating, sleeping, sport, work, drugs and so on. While temporary “relief” may be experienced, these activities, when used in this manner, create greater amounts of stress, tension and fatigue which build in the body and nervous system. We discover that we have been reaching for resolution from external sources, which is ultimately impossible. While it may appear that everything is okay, really, we know it is not. We begin to ask questions. The answers to these questions start to point within. This is where meditation fits in.”

What People Are Saying

What a powerful experience! Tom's delivery of this course has changed my life forever. Tom's knowledge and respect for this ancient meditation practice is powerful. His gentle guidance, sense of humour and open mind allowed me to ease into the practice and experience something truly remarkable. I feel like I have been given a sacred gift no money can buy.”

- Magdaleen K.

“I've been someone who has been interested in meditation for a long time and have felt "too busy" to commit the time to it. I thought it sounded like a good idea but without having any specific problem or issue to work on I didn't feel like it was high on my priority list. I have always prioritised exercise and time outside especially in the water over a commitment to meditate. I have dabbled with various apps over the years but never settled on one that felt right for me and always felt really impatient and distracted while I was trying to sit still and do the meditation. I was trying to think how I could multitask meditation with something else!

I decided to learn to meditate from Tom after a recommendation from a friend who found the meditation to be a life changing experience. I really enjoyed the course and in particular I've enjoyed being able to have the ongoing support and access to weekly group meditations if I can attend.

The ability to stop, be slower and look inside is really important to me. I can feel the effects working their way into my system. For me the change is a small and steady and I think it this is a slow burner that will continue to grow with time for me. I'm really pleased that I've made a start on this journey and I feel like I have wonderful earthy salty support around me to continue.

At first I had to plan and prioritise meditation in my day but now it fits in as a natural flow most of the time, and I really want to do it as it makes me feel better, sleep better, have better energy overall and feel much more like the person I hope really am, and less like the person I had started to become.”

- Erica D.

“Tom teaches the Vedic Meditation with grace, humility and a wonderful sense of humour. What I’ve learnt over the last few days will stay with me forever. I am devoted to this beautiful and simple practice that connects us all.”
